The first rooftop farm in Liberec: innovation, sustainability and local production from GardeniX

On Friday, 12 September 2025, the first rooftop farm in Liberec was inaugurated, installed on DB Schenker building. The project was implemented by a start-up Salad on the roof and the company GardeniX, a member of the GREATIVITY GROUP family.

The Liberec Rooftop Farm is a perfect example of how technology start-ups can positively change the urban environment and the local economy in cooperation with large companies within ESG projects. The project contributes to lowering temperatures in the city, improves the microclimate, shortens the food supply chain and makes use of otherwise unused space. The GardeniX technology used enables efficient vegetable cultivation in urban environments with minimal space and water requirements.

The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of DB Schenker management, Tereza Nalezená (CEO Salad on the Roof) and Šimon Břeský (CEO GardeniX). All participants stressed the importance of local solutions to global challenges in the areas of climate change, logistics and urban planning.
